Over 3,000 Native Trees and Plants Added in Landmark Conservation Effort
Howard EcoWorks kicked off the spring and early summer of 2024 with major conservation efforts around Baltimore and Howard Counties. This work was largely focused on urban and underserved areas of the region. EcoWorks’ crews planted 585 native trees and shrubs along with 2,605 native perennials such as wildflowers, sedges, and ferns. These projects are restoring natural environments and habitats while tackling climate resiliency.

Hootie and the Blowfish will be returning to the area with two local concerts in August. The first will be in Columbia, MD at Merriweather Post Pavilion on August 3rd followed by a show in Bristol, VA at Jiffy Lube Live on August 17th. This is somewhat of a homecoming as half of the band, Mark Bryan and Dean Felber, are graduates of Seneca Valley High School in Germantown.
