Evidentiary hearing for David Lee Myers continues
XENIA — Validity of hair microscopy was the focal point during the fourth day of an evidentiary hearing for death row inmate David Lee Myers. Myers was convicted and sentenced to death in 1996 for the much-publicized railroad spike death of Amanda Jo Maher near some abandoned railroad tracks in Xenia. In February, his attorneys filed a motion in Greene County Common Pleas Court to vacate his death sentence and receive a new trial based on newly discovered DNA evidence they said proves his innocence.

Eight individuals appeared for arraignment
GREENVILLE — Eight individuals appeared for arraignment Thursday in the Darke County Common Pleas Court. Judge Travis L. Fliehman presided. Bobby S. Hicks, 32, of Gettysburg entered a not guilty plea to both count one: aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the first degree and count two: tampering with evidence, a felony of the third degree. If found guilty, Hicks faces nine months up to 19 1/2 years and a $30,000 fine. Defense Attorney Randall Breaden entered a not guilty plea for his client, and it was agreed that the $50,000 bond that Hicks posted would be continued. Her next court date is scheduled for Aug. 23rd.
Tennessee Man Dies After Being Burned By 150-Degree Hotel Shower
76-year-old Tennessee native Alex Chronis was staying at the Econo Lodge in Erlanger, Kentucky. This was back in November 2021 while Chronis was on a work trip. Per the Knoxville News Sentinel, Chronis was badly burned during a morning shower. According to a lawsuit filed by Chronis' estate, "the water was more than 150 degrees, a temperature that can cause third-degree burns within seconds of exposure."
