FLORA CELEBRATING FOURTH OF JULY WITH EVENTS TOMORROW
Area residents are in for a day filled with excitement as Charley Brown Park in Flora plays host to a series of events tomorrow. Kicking off the day at 9 am, the highly anticipated Global War on Terror Wall of Remembrance will make its debut behind the Rotary Stage. Arriving in town under the escort of the Illinois Patriot Guard, the Wall stands as a symbol of Honor, Strength, Courage, Commitment, Loyalty, and Family Values of America, serving as a stark reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom.
Global War on Terror Wall of Remembrance in Flora for 4th of July
The Global War on Terror Wall of Remembrance will be on display in Charlie Brown Park in Flora for the Fourth of July. After spending the night in Kinmundy, the wall led by police, fire, ambulance, Freedom Riders, and a Gold Star Mother left just before noon for Louisville and then south into Flora.

RICHLAND COUTY HEA FOOD PRESERVATION PROGRAM NOW RESCHEDULED
(OLNEY) The Richland County Homemakers Education Association has rescheduled its previously postponed program featuring food preservation utilizing the canning method for next Tuesday evening, July 9th, beginning at 5:30, in the Extension Meeting Room in Olney. Guest Mary Liz Wright, a University of Illinois Extension Nutrition & Wellness Educator, will be discussing various methods of food preservation, especially canning, plus apple marmalade will be processed as a demonstration with several attendees to receive a jar as a door prize. While preregistration is not required, those planning to attend can show up at 5:00 to sign in with the free workshop open to the public at 5:30. Also next week, a testing of canner lids and gauges will be held Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, with the lids to be dropped off early and picked up later in the week. CITY/VILLAGE CLOSURES FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY
(OLNEY) A reminder that most all city and village halls will be closed this coming Thursday in observance of Independence Day 2024 with most all of them reopening with normal hours on Friday. This includes those in Olney, Noble, and Newton. In addition, the City of Olney’s brush dump will also be closed Thursday, but back open this weekend on Friday and Saturday, from 10:00 to 4:00, each day. Plus, while morning and evening swim lessons are cancelled for Thursday, the Musgrove Aquatic Center will open at 1:00 Thursday afternoon for regular public swim. And a note from Republic Services that the area trash collection should be running normal residential routes all of this week without any delays.
