OLNEY CITY COUNCIL JULY 2024 MEETING RECAP
(OLNEY) The Olney City Council met last evening in regular session. The Council : approved the payment of all bills as presented : accepted the $40,000 quote to repair the Sewer Department’s camera operating system : accepted the $20,000 quote for a snow plow & controls for the Street Department : approved the $2,500 contribution to the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission for support and services : approved a five-year subscription renewal agreement with Emergency Service Marketing Corporation, Inc. for the Olney Fire Department : agreed to close the portion of the north/south alley between North East & North Washington Streets and between East Scott & East Locust Streets : approved an amendment to the City’s Municipal Code to charge for services outside the City’s jurisdiction & for services to property from outside the City’s jurisdiction : approved three raffle license requests, as presented : approved the re-appointment of Leon Stallard to the Fire Pension Board : reviewed various updates and status reports : and adjourned after no executive session : the next meeting for the Olney City Council will be August 12th.
THE NEW 2024 MISS RICHLAND COUNTY FAIR QUEEN HAS BEEN CROWNED
(OLNEY) Richland County has a new Fair Queen, as crowned last night by outgoing 2023 Miss Richland County, Holly Duncan, on the fairgrounds in the Olney City Park. It’s 17 year old Aubrey Lambird of Olney, the daughter of Roni Lambird and Mark & Caiti Lambird, all of Olney. Miss Aubrey will now oversee the rest of this year’s County Fair and represent all of Richland County in future events and at the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant in Springfield in January 2025. Also in the Pageant last night, the First Runner-Up was Chloe Piercefield, Second Runner-Up was Joselyn Kocher, and chosen as Miss Congeniality was Sydney Scherer. A job well done by the Pageant Committee and thanks to all the sponsors.
NEWTON AMERICAN LEGION QUEEN OF HEARTS DRAWING THIS FRIDAY
(NEWTON) It’s another Queen of Hearts drawing this Friday night at 6:30 at the American Legion Post 20 in Newton, with tickets on sale up until draw time, and a jackpot at $12,495. The Queen’s Menu includes a choice of chicken livers for $12, a fish sandwich for $10, or a double cheese burger for $10, each with a side and serving starts at 5:00. Indiana physician sentenced to 5 years for Medicaid fraud
A Muncie, Ind., physician has been sentenced to five years for Medicaid fraud, among other charges, Fox59 reported July 22. William Hedrick, MD, who was previously convicted of illegally prescribing drugs, pleaded guilty April 25 in three different cases which include unlawful dispensation of controlled substances, Medicaid fraud, obstruction of justice, and harassment.
