Undocumented Illinois residents can now get standard driver's licenses
Under provisions of a new law, undocumented residents in Illinois are now eligible to receive four-year driver’s licenses. According to HB 3882, which went into effect July 1, those residents can now receive standard licenses and identification cards instead of the previously issued Temporary Visitor’s Driver’s License.

RICHLAND COUTY HEA FOOD PRESERVATION PROGRAM NOW RESCHEDULED
(OLNEY) The Richland County Homemakers Education Association has rescheduled its previously postponed program featuring food preservation utilizing the canning method for next Tuesday evening, July 9th, beginning at 5:30, in the Extension Meeting Room in Olney. Guest Mary Liz Wright, a University of Illinois Extension Nutrition & Wellness Educator, will be discussing various methods of food preservation, especially canning, plus apple marmalade will be processed as a demonstration with several attendees to receive a jar as a door prize. While preregistration is not required, those planning to attend can show up at 5:00 to sign in with the free workshop open to the public at 5:30. Also next week, a testing of canner lids and gauges will be held Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, with the lids to be dropped off early and picked up later in the week. 2024 FALL KIDS MALL REGISTRATION UNDERWAY
(OLNEY) Registration is now underway for this year’s Fall Kids Mall of Richland County. The program is for countywide families in need of clothing assistance and school supplies for their child or children in Preschool through 8th Grade. With registration running now through July 12th, the sign up link is available on the Fall Kids Mall Facebook page & many others, including the RCCU#1 School District homepage, the Middle School & Elementary School pages, and on the Olney Public Library page, families must pre-register by July 12th to participate in this year’s program. Then after the sign up date, registered families will be contacted via email to confirm their curbside pickup time at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney on August 2nd and 3rd. There are no financial requirements or financial details needed to take part in the free program. For those having trouble using the online form, contact Fall Kids Mall on its Facebook page. For those needing internet/computer access, they are encouraged to visit the Olney Public Library during regular business hours.
