Five Women Appointed to Provost Positions at Universities
Has been named interim vice chancellor and provost at Syracuse University in New York. For the past year, Dr. Agnew has served as the university’s associate provost for academic programs. During her two-decades-long career at Syracuse University, she has served as a professor of writing and rhetoric, associate dean of curriculum, innovation, and pedagogy for the College of Arts and Sciences, chair of the department of writing studies, rhetoric, and composition, and director of undergraduate studies for the writing program. She has also held various interim leadership appointments within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Lois Agnew, Syracuse University’s interim provost, appointed Jeff Hemsley, an associate professor in the School of Information Studies, as the school’s interim dean, according to a Saturday SU News release. He assumed the role Monday.
Board elects president and vice president for 2024-25 school year
The Fayetteville-Manlius School District Board of Education elected a new president and vice president for the 2024-25 school year. During the board’s annual re-organizational meeting on July 2, board members elected Sarah Fitzgerald to serve as board president and Rebecca Cohen as vice president. The positions are one-year terms.
Interim Mott Road Elementary principal to begin July 8
As the search for Mott Road Elementary Principal enters its final phase, the Fayetteville-Manlius Board of Education has appointed an interim principal to fill the role through August 4th. Eileen Lux, who is newly retired as principal from Fayetteville Elementary, will shift to fill the opening at Mott Road, beginning July 8.
