Tippecanoe Valley Looking At Proposal For New Administration Building
MENTONE — The Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation is looking at a design for a proposed new administration building, which would include space for a child care center. At its regular meeting on Monday, at Mentone Elementary School, the TVSC Board heard from Adam Weesner with Barton-Coe-Vilamaa Architects and Engineers in Fort Wayne.

Council overrides mayor’s veto on Casey’s Gas Station at Fir and Douglas roads
MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - The Mishawaka Common Council made its final decision on the construction of Casey’s gas station at Fir and Douglas roads on Monday night. The council had originally approved the rezoning plan that would allow the construction of the Casey’s, but Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood vetoed the plan, citing issues like public health in relation to its proximity to the Juday Creek Water Treatment Center. Similar concerns were also voiced by neighbors.

Syracuse Town Council Approves Bid For Pearl Street Parking Lot
SYRACUSE — During its regular meeting Tuesday night, July 16. the Syracuse Town Council approved a bid for $391,891.23 for the Pearl Street parking lot paving project. The winning bid was submitted by Beer & Slabaugh. Town Manager David Wilkinson told the council not only did Beer & Slabaugh have no errors in its bid proposal, it was also significantly less than R. Yoder Construction and Niblock Excavating, the other bidders. Work is to start soon with the parking lot being significantly complete sometime in November.
IU Bloomington ranked highest in Indiana in US News’ Best Global Universities rankings
BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University Bloomington has ranked highly in the recently released U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings for 2024-25. Of the 2,250 universities ranked worldwide, IU Bloomington ranked 135th overall for global impact, the highest of the ranked universities in Indiana. In subject-area rankings, IU Bloomington earned its highest ranking in education and educational research at No. 38.
