    Missing Carter County man’s vehicle spotted in South Carolina

    CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The vehicle of a missing Carter County man has been spotted in South Carolina, law enforcement announced on Friday.

    The Carter County Sheriff’s Office stated the vehicle of missing man Victor Birchfield, 61, was spotted in the Clemson, South Carolina area.

    Law enforcement agencies in South Carolina are assisting the CCSO in the investigation.

    “Our officers are continuing to investigate all leads and information that we receive regarding Mr. Birchfield’s whereabouts,” Sheriff Mike Fraley said in a news release. “We are working with other law enforcement agencies in South Carolina along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on this case.”

    The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) issued a Silver Alert for Birchfield on June 22.

    Birchfield was reportedly last seen June 19 wearing an orange t-shirt, grey basketball shorts, leather shoes and black socks. He has grey hair and hazel eyes, is 5’6” and weighs 170 lbs.

    Birchfield is believed to be traveling in a silver 2003 Toyota 4Runner with damage to the rear. The license plate number is TN 070-BKZV.

    Anyone with information on the possible whereabouts of Victor Birchfield is asked to call the CCSO at 423-542-1845 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
