Clemson’s head baseball coach, Erik Bakich, continues to excel in the transfer portal. Former California Baptist infielder Josh Paino announced his commitment to the Tigers on Sunday night.

Paino, who played shortstop for the Lancers as a junior last season, was named the WAC All-Defensive Player of the Year. He posted impressive stats, hitting .296 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs and achieving an OPS of .912.

In the 2023 season, Paino started 52 games and maintained a .270 batting average, hitting nine home runs and driving in 38 runs. He also contributed nine doubles and two triples, finishing with an on-base percentage of .340. His performance earned him a spot on the WAC All-Academic team, showcasing both his athletic and academic dedication.

Paino is the fourth addition to Clemson’s roster from the transfer portal, joining outfielder Dominic Listi, infielder Collin Priest, and catcher Luke Gaffney. Bakich aims to strengthen the Tigers’ lineup with these new additions and build on their competitive edge for the upcoming season.
