Despite not having even entered his junior season, Cam Cannarella is already being referenced as one of the top prospects for the 2025 MLB Draft.

In ranking players for the 2025 draft, Prospects Live lists Cannarella at No. 2, behind only Texas A&M’s Jace Laviolette.

“Cannarella stepped onto campus as an infielder, but a road block in the Clemson infield gave him an opportunity in center field that he has not relinquished. A gamer in every sense of the word, Cannarella is a dangerous hitter with some of the best contact skills in the entire country. It’s a lovely left-handed swing built more for line drives right now, but he’s shown flashes of raw power to the gaps and to his pull-side. He did become a bit more aggressive in 2024 compared to 2023, but he has quality barrel control and shows patience, drawing walks aplenty. He’s got above-average speed, though he didn’t flash it a ton on the bases due to an injury this year. However, that speed translates to center field, where he has excellent route-running and quality defensive chops. Expect Cannarella to go high in this draft.”

During his first two seasons with the Tigers, Cannarella has been a key piece for Erik Bakich. The rising junior has solidified himself as one of the best pure hitters in the country, not to mention being one of the best centerfielders, despite not ever having played in the outfield before arriving at Clemson.

During his freshman season, Cannarella hit .388, the fourth highest batting average in program history. He also hit seven home runs with 47 RBI from the leadoff spot, and he was 24-of-29 in stolen base attempts, earning All-American honors from Baseball America, D1Baseball and Perfect Game in the process.

Last season, Cannarella once against started out in the leadoff spot, before moving into the cleanup role. He hit .337 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI, despite playing most of the season with a torn labrum.
