One of Clemson’s two remaining linebacker targets has come off the board.
4-star Kamar Archie (Hun School, NJ) announced a commitment to Rutgers on Friday, choosing the Scarlet Knights over other two finalists Clemson and Michigan.
Archie, who picked up one of the Tigers’ opening offers last June, was the only linebacker invited to attend the big official visit weekend in early June.
“Definitely culture, I got to make sure the culture fits me,” Archie told The Clemson Insider after the visit. “I don’t want to be somewhere where I’m not happy. Obviously, Clemson did a great job with that. I think the people that’s there, the people that’s around these players, and the players that they bring in are really great people. You don’t really hear too much trouble about any of the players or anything at Clemson. That’s really one of my main things.”
“And then, of course, my development as a player. But being at Clemson, you’re going to be developed as a player and a young man, which is very important as well. So those two things really are important to me. And of course, academics. Something they really emphasize there is graduating and me and my parents love the fact that they have a 99-percent graduation rate that is only for the football team. That is a huge stat.”
With Archie headed elsewhere, that leaves 4-star Logan Anderson (Fyffe, AL) as the lone remaining target. Anderson picked up his offer after an impressive performance at camp in early June and told TCI that he will be back on campus for the All-In Cookout later this month.
Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class currently features 13 commitments and is ranked inside the Top 10 by multiple services. The staff is looking to take just one linebacker in the class.
