Another Clemson baseball player has been selected in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Junior lefthanded pitcher Rocco Reid heard his name called during the third and final day of the MLB Draft on Tuesday (rounds 11-20).

Reid was chosen in the 15th round (No. 464 overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Reid becomes the fifth Tiger taken in this year’s draft, joining Clemson’s four second day (rounds 3-10) selections (infielder Blake Wright, fourth round (No. 106 overall), Colorado Rockies; righty Austin Gordon, fourth round (No. 110 overall), Los Angeles Angels; outfielder Will Taylor, fifth round (No. 145 overall), Pittsburgh Pirates; lefty Tristan Smith, fifth round (No. 150 overall), Cincinnati Reds).

Reid saw limited action out of the bullpen as a freshman in 2022 and made spot starts along with relief appearances in 2023 and 2024. In 51.1 innings pitched over 43 appearances (five starts) and three seasons, he has a 2-2 record and 6.31 ERA while allowing 56 hits (.277 opponents’ batting average) and 35 walks with 58 strikeouts.

This past season, the 6-foot, 200-pounder from Greenville, S.C., had a 2-1 record and 5.82 ERA in 15 appearances (three starts), with the Tigers winning all three of his starts. In 21.2 innings pitched, Reid allowed 19 hits (.229 opponents’ batting average) and 15 walks with 26 strikeouts.
