    Dabo Swinney.

It has been lost in the shuffle of Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs becoming the elite program in college football, but there was a time (not that long ago) when the Clemson Tigers were Nick Saban and Alabama's biggest big-game rival.

The Tigers and Crimson Tide met every season between 2015 and 2018, a stretch that included an Alabama win over Clemson in the College Football Playoff national championship game in 2015, a rematch that saw Clemson win in 2016 and another rematch in 2018 that saw Clemson win again.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney certainly found a way to get Saban's number after that initial CFP loss, but speaking in a recent press conference about the newly retired Saban, Swinney revealed that he's happy the legendary head coach doesn't have a chance anymore to even up their series.

“Well, it’s good to know that he’s not going to get a rematch for that last one. He’s going to have to live with that one,” Swinney said (h/t On3 ). “Because chances are if he did, he’d probably get some get back. So I can ride off into the sunset with that. We’ll just have to end it right there.”

When you think about how good Swinney has been as head coach at Clemson (he boasts a 170-43 record since 2008 with four CFP national championship appearances and two wins), Saban has been even better.

In 28 seasons at four schools, Saban notched an overall record of 297-71-1 with nine national championship game appearances and seven wins (six at Alabama and one with LSU).

He's truly a legend and Swinney is right: he probably would be out for revenge.
