A former Clemson standout in the NFL had to be carted off the field after suffering an injury over the weekend.

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Trayvon Mullen left the team’s practice Saturday due to an apparent shoulder injury. He fell hard on his shoulder before eventually exiting the practice in a cart.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh commented on the injury on Saturday.

“He fell on it, his shoulder. So, we’ll have to see where we’re at when we get back in there,” Harbaugh said .

Here’s what The Athletic had to say about Mullen’s injury:

“The Ravens had a pretty good first week from an injury standpoint before veteran cornerback Trayvon Mullen fell on his shoulder early in Saturday’s practice. Mullen, who missed all of last season after having summer toe surgery, stayed down for a while before being led off the field. He was in obvious pain as he got up and was carted to the locker room. Harbaugh didn’t have an update after practice. If Mullen has to miss a chunk of time, it would be a major setback for a guy who was considered to be on the roster bubble. He also was enjoying a nice start to camp.”

Mullen was claimed off waivers by the Ravens at the end of the 2022 season. Prior to missing last season with the aforementioned toe injury, the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder played in eight games with the Arizona Cardinals in 2022, then was waived that December.

After being claimed off waivers by the Dallas Cowboys, Mullen appeared in only one game for “America’s Team” in 2022 prior to being released one day before the Cowboys’ divisional round game.

That season, Mullen had 16 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defended across nine games with the Cardinals and Cowboys.

A 2019 second-round pick of the Raiders, Mullen made 31 starts for the Raiders from 2019-21 before being traded to the Cardinals for a conditional draft pick in August 2022.

In 46 career NFL games, Mullen has tallied 150 total tackles, 29 passes defended and four interceptions. He is cousins with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Mullen declared for the NFL Draft following a three-year Clemson career (2016-18) in which he posted 94 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three quarterback pressures, four interceptions, a forced fumble and 12 pass breakups over 41 games (26 starts) in his career. He was second-team AFCA All-American in 2018 who earned College Football Playoff National Championship Defensive MVP honors in the final game of his career.
