DJ Uiagalelei is wearing new colors as he prepares for his fifth collegiate season with his third different team.

The former Clemson (2020-22) and Oregon State (2023) quarterback heads into his first campaign at Florida State and will be the Seminoles’ starter in 2024 after transferring to Tallahassee this offseason.

Uiagalelei recently sat down with ACC Network analyst and former FSU quarterback EJ Manuel. They discussed a number of topics during the interview, including Uiagalelei’s decision to transfer to FSU, how excited he is to play at Doak Campbell Stadium for the first time and more.

Uiagalelei also reflected on his time at Clemson, saying he “learned a lot at Clemson” and “loved my time there.”

“The relationships I built there with my teammates, coaching staff, I enjoyed it,” he said.

“For me, I’m excited to be at Florida State. I’ve learned a lot, being in college four years, now my fifth year at Florida State. So, I feel like I have a lot of experience under my belt. But there’s a lot of stuff I want to show on camera, I want to show on the field and just go out there and ball for my teammates and be the best teammate I can be, make every play I can make, just be confident each and every time I step on the field and just be a great teammate, a great leader.”

Uiagalelei was asked if he feels he has something to prove this season.

“I wouldn’t say I have something to prove. … At the end of the day, the outside noise, whatever people say, have opinions about me or whatever, that doesn’t really bother me,” he said. “In my heart I know what kind of player I am and I just want to go out there and show the rest of the world that.”

Asked why people should “buy stock” into DJU, Uiagalelei said it’s because his “stock’s on the rise” going into 2024.

“I think there’s a lot of stuff I want to show to the world and just a lot of stuff I want to be able to put on film to different scouts and people watching the game of football,” he said. “So, that’s why.”

Of course, Uiagalelei will face his former Clemson team when the Tigers travel to take on the Seminoles at Doak Campbell Stadium on Oct. 5.

A former five-star prospect, Uiagalelei went 22-6 as a starter during his time with the Tigers. Overall, in 36 career games at Clemson, the California native completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 5,681 yards and 36 touchdowns with 17 interceptions, to go with 913 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.

Uiagalelei is coming off a successful season at Oregon State last year, when he completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 2,638 yards and 21 touchdowns with seven interceptions. The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder also had 219 rushing yards and six more scores on the ground.
