One of the select number of prospects in the 2026 class to score an offer from Clemson thus far in the process is Shavar Young Jr.

The Clemson Insider recently caught up with the Webb School of Knoxville (Tenn.) four-star athlete, who received his offer from the Tigers after they began extending offers to the 2026 class in early June.

“It felt really good to get the offer,” Young said. “It means a lot to me because it’s an offer from Clemson. It meant something.”

Young – a top-150 national prospect, per multiple recruiting services – is a two-way talent in high school.

The 6-foot, 180-pound rising junior lines up on both sides of the ball, and last season, he logged 84 receptions for 1,130 yards and nine touchdowns offensively to go with 17 tackles, 11 pass breakups and an interception on defense.

The more Young has developed, the more they like him at cornerback. Defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin and corners coach Mike Reed made a stop at his high school during the evaluation period, and he’s been strengthening his bond with Clemson’s coaching staff.

“Just continue building a strong relationship,” Young said of what he’s heard from the Tigers of late. “They want me at Clemson. My relationship with the staff continues to grow.”

Young has made several trips to Clemson in the past, and he will be back in Tiger Town this fall, if not sooner than the upcoming season.

“I hope I’m able to get back up to Clemson before things get hectic,” he said. “If not I will attend some games. I know a night game for sure.”

Young’s extensive list of around 30 total offers includes schools such as Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Young knows when he will make his college decision, and Clemson remains among the top contenders in his recruitment.

“I have a couple schools that I’m high on right now,” he said. “I plan to commit Dec. 12. Clemson is in my top!”
