Clemson has missed on wide receiver target Dillon Alfred.

The 4-star wideout (Saraland, AL) announced a commitment to Ole Miss on Friday night, choosing the Rebels over the Tigers. Alfred originally committed to Ole Miss back in the spring, but would back off of that verbal pledge last month.

Alfred visited Clemson in the spring, shortly before the first commitment to Ole Miss. He would return to campus the first week in June to work out at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp, announcing an offer from Clemson three weeks later. Alfred was then back in town for the All-In Cookout last weekend.

“It’s the coaches there, coach Swinney and coach Grisham,” Alfred said in a recent interview with The Clemson Insider. “And I felt the vibe there and that’s what really catches me. It’s a family environment. A place that will help you get to the next level. And I really love it there.”

With Alfred heading elsewhere, Clemson still has just one receiver committed in the 2025 class in 4-star Ju Ju Preston. On3 currently ranks the class No. 7 in the country.

A limited number of signed footballs from Clemson’s 2022 class are still available.  Get yours while supplies last!  Visit Clemson Variety & Frame or purchase online!
