CLEMSON- There’s a different feeling in the air surrounding Clemson’s offensive line.

The hiring of Matt Luke has brought a new level of optimism after a 2023 season that featured a lot of inconsistency up front.

Upperclassmen Blake Miller insists that Luke’s insertion into the room has been a breath of fresh air and that the passion he brings each and every day is rubbing off.

“I think the energy he brings and the attention to detail he brings, it’s infectious,” Miller said. “You’ve got older guys coaching younger guys. You’ve got younger guys coming up to older guys and saying, ‘Hey I think you could’ve done this better.’ That attention to detail and that energy. He gets it out of you and it has been awesome.”

With four starters set to return and the group fully healthy, expectations are extremely high. Miller is confident that the Tigers have the talent to be one of the better units in the country and maintains that the accountability that now exists within the group will lead to better results.

“We really want to set the standard,” Miller said. “Just go out there and show what we can do. I think we have the guys to be the best O-line period. I think we all know what we can do and holding each other accountable. Making sure everyone is holding everyone accountable. Whether it is a freshman holding a senior accountable or vice versa. We know what we can accomplish if we are held accountable.”

Clemson is set to open the season against Georgia in Atlanta, meaning this offensive line will be tested right off the bat, and Miller fully believes they can not only hold up, but excel against the Dawgs.

“They have great guys over there, great scheme,” Miller said. “They play with some grit to them. I am really excited and I think that playing against them will be a great way to start the season off to see what we’re made of and I think we can really do well. I think that will be confidence booster to see what we’re doing and how we stack up against them. I’m excited. I think we can do well. Like I said, it’s about having that belief in ourselves, having that accountability. Being able to execute and not making any stupid mistakes.”
