Harris Sewell met with the media following Clemson’s practice on Monday.

The sophomore offensive lineman spoke about the center rotation in fall camp.

Redshirt junior Ryan Linthicum came out of the spring as the starter at center, but has logged just 103 snaps over his first three years in the program. Sewell is also battling for that job after starting five games and playing 460 snaps as a freshman, although all those snaps camp at guard.

“Ryan’s getting most of the reps right now, and then they’re kind of mixing me in,” Sewell said on Monday regarding the center rotation.

According to Sewell, he has mainly been repping at center in camp.

While the Tigers return a lot of experience at four of the five spots up front, center is the one spot where that isn’t the case. With Georgia as the opening opponent and center being the most important position along the offensive line, this battle could be as crucial as any position battle as camp goes on.

“It’s been good,” Sewell said of the center competition. “I think us competing every day is really good and makes us all better. I think the best player’s going to go out there and play against Georgia, and if that’s me, if that’s not me, I just want what’s best for the team.”
