KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A Clendenin monument and memorial seller cannot operate a memorial business in West Virginia and must pay thousands after a lawsuit claimed he took money from customers and did not deliver what they paid for.

The lawsuit was against Glenn Naylor II, the owner of Naylor Monument Sales and Naylor Monument Company LLC. Naylor was alleged to have violated the state’s Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

The investigation into Naylor’s business practices began in 2022 after numerous complaints from customers.

Naylor would advertise memorial services, fail to complete contracts, fail to provide estimated completion dates, fail to give promised goods and services and misrepresent when memorials would be delivered and installed, according to court documents filed Tuesday morning.

According to Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R-WV), Naylor cannot operate a memorial business in West Virginia and must pay $78,851.44 to the state and $125,000 in civil penalties.
