Leesburg’s Star Spangled Spectacular 4th of July Schedule
A water ski show, live music, fun family activities, collegiate baseball and amazing fireworks are all part of Leesburg’s Star Spangled Spectacular 4th of July. The festivities begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 at Ski Beach in Venetian Gardens, 201 Lake Harris Drive, Leesburg. This year’s event features carnival rides for kids and adults along with a photo booth, caricature artist and other entertainment. Vendors will serve up a variety of food including burgers, BBQ, arepas, Italian ice and strawberry shortcake.
Oakland drafts proposed 2024-25 budget
The Oakland Town Commission held its first budget workshop Tuesday, June 25, to establish the tentative Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget and proposed millage rate to support that budget. The budget is proposed at $23,047,494, and the town is proposing to hold the millage rate at 6.3 for a third year.

City of Leesburg announces closings for 4th of July holiday
City of Leesburg offices and facilities will close Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Closings include City Hall, the Municipal Services Center, Public Works, Recreational Complex and the Leesburg Public Library. There will be no garbage or yard waste collection on Thursday, July 4. Residential and hand commercial solid waste regularly scheduled for pick up on Thursdays will be picked up on Monday, July 8. There will be no change to dumpster service for the holiday.
