Cleveland police have confirmed that shots were fired at officers early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 9300 block of Pratt Avenue after police were called to the scene.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a victim who reported that a vehicle drove by their home and opened fire at the house and vehicles.

Within two minutes of police arriving at the scene, officers said a vehicle drove by and fired multiple shots in their direction.

A police car was struck by the gunfire, but no injuries were reported.

    Police did not return fire.

News 5's overnight photographer saw officers picking up shell casings near a police cruiser.

“I am grateful this incident did not result in injuries to the citizens and officers,” said Chief Dorothy Todd. “We will investigate this incident thoroughly until those responsible are located and arrested.”

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police at 216-623-5418.
