‘Dang!’ Local man gets lucky scratch-off ticket

CLEVELAND , Ohio (WJW) – A quick stop for some pop and some lottery tickets turned into a windfall of cash for one lucky man.

According to officials with the Ohio Lottery , Roy Thiel of Brooklyn won $10,000 on a 50th Anniversary scratch-off ticket.

He purchased the ticket at Get Go on Ridge Road in Cleveland just ahead of Father’s Day.

“I went up to Get Go to get myself a couple of two for $4 Pepsi’s. I stuck 60 bucks in the machine and bought a $50 ticket and a $10 ticket, ” said Thiel.

He went home to scratch off the tickets.

“When I was scratching the 50, I hit all the numbers,” he said in the press release. “My daughter was in the living room. I said, ‘Dang, this is going to be a good one.’

After taxes, Theil will take home about $7,200.

50th Anniversary is a $50 scratch-off game. According to the Ohio Lottery, players can win up to $15,000,000. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.97. CLICK HERE to learn more.
