    Memorial service planned for fallen Cleveland officer Jamieson Ritter

    CLEVELAND (WJW) – A memorial service will be held Monday honoring fallen Cleveland police officer Jamieson Ritter, who died in the line of duty on the Fourth of July.

    Cleveland city officials say the memorial will take place at 10 a.m. at Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, located at 1007 Superior Avenue.

    There will also be a procession leading to the church, but city officials say route details will be released in the upcoming days.

    Who was Cleveland police officer Jamieson Ritter?

    Ritter, a four-year veteran with the Division of Cleveland Police, was shot and killed just before 1 a.m. Thursday while responding to a man wanted for felonious assault near Wade Park.

    Investigators say the suspect, 24-year-old Delawnte Hardy, fled on a bike, pulled out a gun and opened fire. Ritter was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead from his injuries.

    Hardy, who appeared in court Friday morning, is charged with aggravated murder.

    A funeral for Ritter, a New York native, will be held out-of-state.
