CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Cleveland Browns decided to re-sign kicker Dustin Hopkins, FOX 8 learned Monday evening.

According to officials, Hopkins was signed to a three-year, $15.9 million extension. The new contract will keep him in Cleveland through the 2027 season.

Hopkins is coming off the second-highest scoring season for a player in Browns history with 123 total points. If it wasn’t for a hamstring injury in Week 15, Hopkins would have likely broken the Browns’ single-season point record.

He fell just three points shy of Jim Brown’s record-setting single-season point record set in 1965.

Hopkins was traded to Cleveland last August from the Los Angeles Chargers. In 15 games, Hopkins was 33-36 in field goal chances and 24-26 in extra point attempts. He was a perfect 8-8 from 50+-yard field goals last season.

The 33-year-old is now among the top five highest paid kickers in the NFL.
