CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians have officially acquired outfielder Lane Thomas in a trade with the Washington Nationals.

In exchange, Washington receives minor leaguers Alex Clemmey, Jose Tena and Rafael Ramirez.

This season, 28-year-old Thomas is one of the Nationals’ top hitters, batting .253 with eight home runs, 40 RBIs, and 28 stolen bases.

He has reached base in 25 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in Major League Baseball.

In six seasons in MLB, Thomas owns a career average of .251 with 65 home runs and 220 RBIs.

Prior to his time in Washington, he played two seasons in St. Louis. He was a part of the 2021 trade that sent Jon Lester to the Cardinals.

He is under team control through the 2025 season.
