    Why TownHall, with locations in Cleveland, Columbus, is boycotting the Summer Olympics

    It’s difficult to remember when the opening ceremony for any Olympics Games generated the level of controversy associated with this year's games in Paris.

    Christian groups have accused the ceremony’s producers of mocking The Last Supper. Ceremony organizers have said there was no such intent.

    Allow the Ohio-based restaurant group that owns businesses in Cleveland and Columbus to step into the fray.

    In the Cleveland area, their best-known property is the eatery TownHall, In an Instagram post, it and several other restaurants in the group announced the Olympics won’t be shown in their restaurants.

    “The portrayal of ‘The Last Supper’ was handled with an irresponsible level of irreverence, insulting the Christian faith,” a portion of the post read .

    Except the ceremony’s creators have said the ceremony was a representation of the Festival of Dionysus which is uniquely Greek and given the Greece originated the Olympics that is where the tie comes into play.

    When looking at the Instagram post in full, it’s interesting the organization would level such accusations.

    Still seizing the moment, a competitor in Columbus is countering by saying they will air the Olympics .
