Former NFL player and sports analyst Mike Golic doubts Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will ever return to the form that made him one of the best signal-callers in the league.

During an appearance on 92.3 The Fan’s “Afternoon Drive ” show, Golic, who played in the NFL in the 1980s and 1990s, expressed his concern about Watson's chances of becoming a top-tier QB again.

“Everybody is waiting for Deshaun Watson to get back to what he was; I don’t know if he’s ever going to get there, quite honestly,” Golic said (h/t Browns Nation) .

That must be tough to hear for Browns fans, whose team invested a ton in the former Clemson Tigers star quarterback. Cleveland acquired Watson via a trade with the Houston Texans in 2022 and signed him to a massive five-year extension deal worth $230 million despite all the controversies hounding the quarterback.

Watson served an 11-game suspension to start the 2022 NFL season amid sexual harassment allegations.

In the 2023 campaign, Watson was only able to see action for six games, as his season was prematurely ended by a season-ending shoulder injury.

In two seasons with the Browns thus far, Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, has passed for just 2,217 yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions on a subpar 59.8 percent completion rate. Clearly, his production doesn't match his salary, but he'll look to turn things around, beginning in the 2023 season.
