WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Browns are nearing the end of their West Virginia adventure.
Thursday will mark the sixth full practice day for the Browns at The Greenbrier. They're scheduled to be in full pads, which should provide the most competitive practice yet this year.
The Browns will wrap up their stay in West Virginia on Friday. They'll practice in the morning before flying back to Cleveland afterwards.
Follow along here for updates from their penultimate Greenbrier practice, as well as everything head coach Kevin Stefanski had to say.
The Browns' linebacking corps continues to thin. Tony Fields II, who was getting first-unit reps in the base defense, was seen in a walking boot on his right foot Thursday.
Another linebacker, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, was not in pads on Thursday. It's believed to be a rest day for the fourth-year pro.
Safety Rodney McLeod was also working to the side for the second practice in a row. McLeod also was out Tuesday.
Defensive end Za'Darius Smith was back at practice Thursday. He had missed Monday and Tuesday due to personal reasons.
Defensive end Myles Garrett and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy also weren't expected to be full-go in practice. They've done only limited things in practice so far in camp, mostly in install or walk-through periods.
The Browns made a roster move on Thursday. They placed linebacker Charlie Thomas III on injured reserve, while bringing back linebacker Caleb Johnson.
Thomas was seen on Tuesday wearing a full leg brace before getting into a vehicle.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky as the Browns took the field Thursday morning around 9 a.m. However, Stefanski said concerns about the potential for them to roll in led to things being moved up more than an hour.
"No, there is was some rain in the forecast around noon," Stefanski said. "I didn't want to mess with that. It looked gorgeous this morning, so just figured we'd move it up a little bit."
The Browns have shuffled things up yet again this week with regards to practice times. This time, they've moved it up from 10:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Monday's practice was moved up to 8:45 a.m. due to rain. Tuesday's was moved back to 2:30 p.m. due to storms.
It was sunny as of 8:15 a.m. in the Greenbrier area. The forecast calls for sunshine with some clouds, with highs in the upper 80s.
