WWE held one of its flagship premium live events in Cleveland on Saturday with SummerSlam. But that’s not all the WWE did in Cleveland, they held a tryout event as well and there were a couple confirmed NFL free agents there per Pro Wrestling Insider.

One of them was former Philadelphia Eagles' running back Elijah Holyfield. The former undrafted rookie out of Georgia was with the Eagles from 2019 to 2021. He spent most of that time on the team's practice squad, but he was active for a Week 11 game against the Browns and played in the preseason. Holyfield also spent time with the Panthers and Bengals.

Holyfield has some small connection to the WWE. His father is former world champion boxer Evander Holyfield. He boxed wrestler Matt Hardy on an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event in 2008. Surely the Holyfield name would help Elijah get over in the world of combat sports.

Holyfield wasn't the only former NFL player that was confirmed to be there. PWInsider also confirmed that safety Trill Williams was trying out as well. Williams spent some time with the Dolphins and Saints.

There are plenty of WWE superstars that have a past in the NFL. Roman Reigns was with the Vikings, Bron Breakker was with the Ravens and Baron Corbin was with the Colts and Cardinals. Holyfield might have a real shot to make it with his name value, athleticism and physique.
