Man rescued after tree standoff in Dayton
DAYTON, Ohio – Dayton first responders were called to an unusual rescue situation Tuesday when a man climbed a tree and made suicidal threats. Police and fire crews responded to the scene where they found the individual high in a tree, exhibiting erratic behavior. After a nearly two-and-a-half-hour standoff, authorities were able to de-escalate the situation and persuade the man to climb down safely. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Troy Council presents ‘Look Who is Recycling’ award
TROY — The second quarter Rumpke “Look Who is Recycling” award was presented to Kyle and Jessica Jackson, of Windridge Place, at the Monday Troy City Council meeting. Council President William Rozell awarded the Jacksons with the 2024 second quarter Rumpke “Look Who is Recycling” award. Rumpke of Ohio Inc., the city of Troy’s curbside recycling contractor, runs the program as a tool to encourage residential recycling. Awards are given quarterly to city of Troy residents who actively recycle and share their reasons for doing so.
CMH names Dozier new chief nursing officer
WILMINGTON — Clinton Memorial Hospital (CMH) has announced the appointment of Debra Dozier as its new chief nursing officer (CNO), effective immediately. Dozier earned her BSN from Indiana Wesleyan and MSN from Chamberlain University and brings over 15 years of extensive nursing and leadership experience to the hospital, enhancing its commitment to providing exceptional patient care and advancing clinical excellence, according to a news release.
Dayton nonprofit lands $500,000 toward expansion
DAYTON, Ohio (Dayton Business Journal) -- A local nonprofit has received $500,000 from the state, and it plans to use it for facility renovations and expansion. East End Community Services (EECS), established in 1998, is using the funds it has received to renovate its East End Whole Family Services Hub facility. The renovations will add approximately 17,500 square feet to the space at 624 Xenia Ave. in Dayton. According to the EECS website and previous DBJ reporting, this will include the addition of a second floor and the expansion of the first floor.
