120 Degree Temperatures Will Soon Surge Much Higher

There has been some hope that, while temperatures around the world have hit record levels, they have peaked for the time being. This is not the case. The 120-degree F heat in Phoenix will move higher still, as will be the case across most of the world.

    A Grim Forecast

An article at Bloomberg says Erich Fischer, a climate scientist at ETH Zurich, has predicted that “such extreme leaps might be up to seven times more common by 2050, compared with the last 30 years, if the world continues a high level of greenhouse gas emissions.”

If true, the challenges will eventually reach a level at which parts of the world that no longer have enough relief from extreme heat will need to relocate, raising the question of where they can go. In wealthy nations like the US, at least people can move from places like Las Vegas and Phoenix to areas further north and east. Although the process would be unimaginably expensive, it is possible.

    Poor Nations

People in poor nations do not have a chance to begin climate migration. Across areas of Africa, India, and Pakistan , which have populations of close to two billion people, those who live in areas that will become unlivable will have no place to go. Migration to other, cooler nations is a logistical impossibility.
