    Brodhead's Ava Risum, Clinton's Ashley Theisen head up All-RVC Rock Division softball

    Junior pitchers Ava Risum and Ashley Theisen took top honors on the 2024 Rock Valley Conference-Rock Division All-Conference Softball Team.

    Risum earned Pitcher of the Year for Rock Division champion Brodhead while Theisen earned Player of the Year for Clinton. The Cardinals’ Steve Krupke was named Coach of the Year.

    Both Risum and Theisen tore it up in the pitcher’s circle and at the plate as two-way threats.

    Heading into Tuesday’s WIAA sectional home game against Poynette, Risum (16-2) had pitched 104 innings and allowed only 55 hits and 17 earned runs. She had walked 13 and struck 181. Her earned run average was 1.14 with a .654 WHIP and opponents hit just .146 off her.

    At the plate, Risum is hitting .441 with a .560 on-base percentage, 1.204 OPS and .644 slugging percentage. She has six doubles, two home runs and has scored 19 runs and driven in 18.

    Theisen started 15 games and went 7-8 for the Cougars (8-12). She threw 102 1-3 innings, allowing 74 hits and 18 earned runs. She walked 17 and struck out 208, posting a 1.23 earned run average. Opponents batted .181 off her.

    On offense, Theisen batted 48 times and had 27 hits, including 12 for extra bases (nine doubles, three homers). She hit .562 with a .611 on-base percentage and .938 slugging percent. She scored eight runs and knocked in 17.

    Brodhead’s other First Teamers are Sophia Leitzen and Jaelyn Hilliard.

    Beloit Turner’s First Team selections are catcher Madyson Hoenig, outfielder Emma Bue and shortstop Kamdyn Davis. Kamryn Clark, Kennedy Crall, Autumn Meris and Samantha Schleis all earned Second Team honors.

    Big Foot is represented on the First Team by infielder Lily Wolf, pitcher Holly Kynell and infielder Kate Hummel. Natalie Klamm earned Second Team.

    Theisen was Clinton’s lone First Teamer. Allie Bell earned Second Team.
