City of Florence seeks community input on parks with online survey
FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - The city of Florence is hoping to gain attention and feedback on the parks and recreation facilities in the community. According to WAFF’s newspaper partner, The Times Daily, the city’s parks and recreation department has created an online survey to get feedback on what the public wants to be implemented and how the facilities are serving the community.
Fireworks at the Bridge
SHEFFIELD - Watch the Independence Day Fireworks this year from the best vantage point. Shoals residents and visitors are invited to join friends and neighbors on the deck of the historic Old Railroad Bridge for the event. Admission is just $3, and all proceeds go to the Old Railroad Bridge Company, Inc. the 501(3)(c) all volunteer organization that improves and maintains the historic bridge for public use. This event represents the major fundraiser each year for the ORBC. This is also the first year that the bridge will be hosting fireworks fans while included on the National Register of Historic Places.

UNA Trustees, campus officials, Bank Independent representatives, and others gathered on the afternoon of June 14 in the Bill Jones Athletic Complex beside Flowers Hall to break ground for the on-campus stadium.
Tuscumbia to celebrate life and legacy of Helen Keller with annual festival
The Helen Keller Festival is once again coming to the birthplace of the Alabama-native in Tuscumbia to honor the state historical figure. Helen Keller was born in Tuscumbia on June 27, 1880. She was a Colbert Country native for the first eight years of her life, living on the Ivy Green homestead with her family until 1888. A childhood illness left Keller both blind and deaf when she was just 19 months old.
