Community cleans up in southeast Fresno as part of 'Beautify Fresno'
The community took action over the weekend to help keep our neighborhoods clean.About 60 people signed up to help pick up trash in southeast Fresno as part of a Beautify Fresno event.Volunteers cleaned up the Jackson neighborhood along Mono Avenue on Saturday.The event provides participants with safety vests, gloves, trash bags, snacks, and water.There have been over 400 cleanup events since Mayor Jerry Dyer started Beautify Fresno.The next cleanup day is the Mayor's Citywide Community Cleanup Day on August 3.You can register for the event here.

SELMA – As Mid Valley Disposal (MVD) continues its service rollout in the city of Selma, residents are adamant about rolling their trash bins back into the alleyways. More than a dozen Selma residents continued to voice their displeasure at the city’s change in garbage collection contractors during the Selma City Council meeting July 15. Those who spoke insisted MVD return trash pickup to the alleys immediately and cast doubt on the reasons MVD provided for the change to curbside pickup citywide.

Appeals court sides with Fresno over Adventure Church in Tower Theatre purchase
More than two years after it moved to purchase the historic Tower Theatre, the City of Fresno prevailed on an appeal of a lawsuit filed by another buyer – Adventure Church. The church, which sued the city after local officials aggressively pursued a purchase after mulling eminent domain, alleged that the city intentionally interfered in a contract with the prior owners of the Tower Theatre.
