CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) – A murder suspect in Clovis has been released pending trial after it was revealed a former police officer may have encouraged her to commit other crimes. According to court documents, Alexandra Romero told detectives that early last year, a Clovis Police Department officer gave her information and drugs. She identified the now-former officer as Frank Careri.

Romero claimed Careri ran license plates for her and knew she stole several items from a home after the residents were arrested. Romero’s murder charge is related to an incident several months after she talked with detectives about Careri. The department said he resigned during the investigation.

Clovis police have issued a warrant for Careri who is facing several felony charges.
