Clement Zenon Heyza, Jr.
Clement Zenon Heyza, Jr., of Algonac, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024 at 85 years old. Clem was born on June 19, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan to Clement and Helen Heyza (Walkowski). After graduating from Algonac High School, Clem worked at Chris-Craft in Algonac while attending college in Port Huron. Clem was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy (1962-1966). He served two tours on the USS Galveston ‘West Pack Cruise’ & ‘Far East Cruise (Vietnam)’. On December 29, 1962, Clem married his high school sweetheart, Annette Lupenski. They shared over 61 wonderful years of traveling and adventures. Clem graduated from Grossmont College (San Diego, CA) with an Associate Degree in Science. Clem was an avid boater, classic car enthusiast and lifelong member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a member of the Algonac-Clay Historical Society. Clem enjoyed traveling in their boat from Toronto, ON to Traverse City, MI and up to the Soo Locks exploring many destinations in between. Later Clem transitioned to a motorhome where they traveled around Michigan and across the USA. He was also a member of Supreme Travelers of Michigan enjoying camping along with event outings with friends. Clem retired from General Motors where he worked from 1979 – 2004 as a millwright. Beloved husband of Annette Heyza. Dear father of Kurt Heyza, the late Mark Heyza and the late Janae (Greg) Houfley. Loving grandfather of Drew and Nicholas Houfley. Predeceased by his sister Barbara Hopp. Visitation 2:00 ‘ 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary, Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Wasik Funeral Home ‘ Gendernalik Chapel, 35259-23 Mile Road, New Baltimore. Motorcyclist killed in Saturday night crash
BATTLE CREEK, — A 24-year-old Emmett Township man died following a single motorcycle crash Saturday night, according to a Battle Creek Police Department news release. Police responded to the crash at about 9:45 p.m. near West Michigan Avenue and Limit Street. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle after it left the roadway and went over a curb, according to police. The BCPD was assisted by the Springfield Township Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance. Despite life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries. An Algonac man has been arrested after a Michigan State Police investigation reportedly found he was accessing child pornography online.
