ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – At 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a small police presence gathered in the Alameda neighborhood. That presence grew over the following hour to include multiple units, the SWAT Bearcat, and the team. A portion of South 7th Street, Pueblo Drive, and Alameda Street were shut down as the evening progressed. The standoff ended just after 8:00 p.m. with the suspect, an unidentified adult black male, being loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance with apparent injuries.

Officer-Involved Shooting: Barricaded Suspect Emerges from Home Brandishing Handgun in West Texas
ABILENE, Texas — A 36-year-old man was fatally shot by police after a standoff in Abilene on July 2, 2024. Officers were dispatched to the corner of South 7th and Alameda Street around 2:12 p.m. for a disturbance involving Jeremy Bennett, who was reportedly brandishing a handgun and threatening two females inside a home, according to the Abilene Police Department. Bennett fled the scene but was later found in a nearby residence.
