Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Game warden Randy Hutzenbiler told the Associated Press that “there were attractants in the area,” such as trash and food, which led the bear to the campsite at around 10 p.m. on Sunday. The girl was then mauled by the bear in her tent and rushed to a Billings, Montana, hospital, where her condition has not been revealed to the press. Officials then laid traps around the campsite, capturing a bear which they claimed was responsible for the attack on Monday. The bear was then euthanized by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials. A 72-year-old man fought off and killed a grizzly bear that attacked him while he was picking huckleberries in Montana.
