John Deere announces 600 layoffs amid falling demand
Deere & Co. said it plans to lay off nearly 600 employees as the demand for farm equipment declines. The company confirmed on Monday that the job cuts will affect production roles primarily at two factories in Iowa and at its headquarters in Moline, Illinois. Davenport fire suspect spat on firefighter, officials say
An 18-year-old Davenport man was in custody Tuesday after police say he is a suspect in an arson, according to a news release. Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Davenport Fire Department responded to the 1000 block of Grand Court for a structure fire. Crews responded with three engines, two ladder trucks, and a district chief, for an initial response of 16 personnel.
