SMITHFIELD – A clerk at the ABC Store on S. Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield was assaulted. Smithfield Police said it happened on June 28 around 3:36pm. A woman reportedly entered the liquor store and became upset. The woman used her fist to strike a female clerk in the chest. The victim received a red mark from the assault but was not injured.
