Poyner Spruill Honors Late Colleague with Second Annual Service Week
Poyner Spruill LLP recently honored the life and legacy of late colleague Cheslie Kryst during their second annual Service Week. Kryst worked as an attorney then as the firm’s Diversity Advisor. She was passionate about volunteering at nonprofits and advocating for those in underserved communities. Kryst had a life-long battle with mental illness and died by suicide in January 2022. Each year, Poyner Spruill raises awareness for mental health resources and gives back to local communities in Kryst’s honor.

New RPD taskforce bent on cutting down car thefts is working
Raleigh Police Department launched a new taskforce last month to try and cut down on the number of cars being stolen in the city.The focus is on stolen cars because they're very often used in other violent crimes.So far, the taskforce is seeing positive results."We look at everything from a moped to very high-end vehicles being stolen in the city," said Lieutenant John Black of RPD.Since the launch of the taskforce in early June, 10 people have been arrested and 25 stolen cars have been recovered. Citywide poll shows Raleigh voters losing confidence in city council despite city growth
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A considerable decline in confidence of city council is growing among voters throughout Raleigh. In a new poll from Livable Raleigh, 73 percent of voters said the city does not do a good job of keeping residents informed, up significantly from 49 percent in 2022. Additionally, only 23 percent of voters approve the council doubling their terms to four years, and only one in four voters said this year’s budget reflects their priorities.

The Creamery: 37-story building to break ground along Glenwood South
A new 37-story building planned for Glenwood South will have more floors than any building in downtown Raleigh, even more than the PNC building, which is 32 stories tall. The new building, called The Creamery, will be located at the site of the old Pine State Creamery, a former dairy products factory at 414 Glenwood Ave. The plans preserve the creamery building and its history, but the high-rise will dramatically change the feel of the neighborhood.
