Mom who smashed through Patrick Space Force Base gate is indicted; faces federal time if convicted

A 29-year-old Cocoa woman who authorities said rammed a gate at Patrick Space Force Base, then carjacked a vehicle with her 4-year-old child in tow and led deputies on a two-county, high-speed chase, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury.

Krishna Jade Janosky was indicted on charges of unauthorized entry onto a military installation, grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and damaging government property in connection with the Feb. 7 incident at the base.

If convicted, Janosky — who court records show suffered from several mental health challenges, including anxiety — could face up to 30 years in federal prison.

“I know what I did was wrong,” Janosky told Indian River County deputies who took her into custody following a chase in Brevard and Indian River counties, arrest records show. Prosecutors said that Janosky has no connection to the military base, located along State Highway A1A just south of Cocoa Beach.

Deputies and other officers were alerted to respond to the base on Feb. 7 after a woman, later identified as Janosky, drove through the flightline gate, causing at least $1,000 in damage to the property. Investigators said she then jumped out of her car with her child and walked to another vehicle, and she asked that driver to exit.

Janosky got into the stolen vehicle, a Kia Sportage, and sped south on A1A. Deputies used stop sticks but Janosky continued driving. She later veered off the road in Indian River County, where deputies took her and the child into custody.

Janosky told deputies that she was following the car ahead of her, which pulled into the base. She told deputies that she was directed, possibly by military police, to pull over but that she became fearful of what might happen to her, the arrest report states.

Janosky was arrested and booked into the Indian River County Jail. She pleaded not guilty to the state charges.

Court records show that Janosky’s case was transferred to a mental health court diversion program in Indian River. In June, federal prosecutors sought an indictment and once it was secured, issued an arrest warrant for Janosky in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The state later decided to not pursue charges once federal prosecutors took up the case, court records show.

The case was investigated by the 45th Security Forces Squadron and the Air Force Office of Special Investigation, along with Brevard and Indian River sheriff’s offices. The child's status was not immediately known.

No court date has been set.
