COCONUT CREEK, FL - Coconut Creek police are looking for a red Honda Civic involved in a hit-and-run crash last week that left a person dead by the side of the road in a ditch.

They’re looking for a “molten lava red,” 2018 to 2021 Civic SI, said Scott Leamon, a police spokesperson.

“The one we are looking for is missing its right-side mirror,” he said. “It will likely have damage consistent with swiping a guardrail, and damage to the front windshield.”

On Wednesday, a passerby called police shortly after 4:30 p.m. to report spotting a body in a ditch on the 400 block of South Lyons Road.

Police closed the northbound lanes of the road to investigate.

    The investigation continues, Leamon said.
