COCONUT CREEK, FL - A 77-year-old Coconut Creek woman recently had a motorcyclist punch out her rearview mirror in a road rage incident, according to a police report.

At around 6:15 a.m. on July 9, the woman made a left onto Copans Road from NW 40 Street, driving up to the intersection of Copans and Lyons Road. There, she stopped at a red light, the report said.

That’s when a motorcyclist pulled up to her driver’s side window and began yelling at her. The woman rolled down her window to hear what the person was saying. She heard a male voice yelling that she had cut him off and almost killed him, the report said.

The woman told police that he never took off his helmet or face shield and was wearing gloves. So, she was not able to give police identifying characteristics of his face or skin. The woman tried to apologize, but he kept yelling at her, the report said.

The man on the motorcycle then punched the driver’s side mirror, knocking it off its base.

He then made a U-turn going in front of her car and another waiting for the light and sped off heading east on Copans Road, according to the report.

The man was wearing a green and white helmet with a tinted face shield, she told police. The motorcycle was also green and white. She couldn’t identify the motorcycle, other than to say it was more of a racing type than a Harley Davidson, the report said.

The elderly woman was in shock and didn’t call the police right away. But once she got to work, colleagues convinced her to call.

The body shop told the woman that repairing the rearview mirror on her pink Cadillac would cost about $500, the report said.
