As massive Park Fire rages, crews fight to save rural communities near Chico
The Park Fire has already destroyed at least 134 structures, pushed some 4,000 people from their homes and charred more than 307,000 acres since it ignited Wednesday afternoon. It grew Friday amid hot, dry conditions and gusty winds, becoming the state’s eighth-largest fire on record, according to Cal Fire.

Goats are back in Chico’s Bidwell Park
Goats have resumed grazing in the Middle Bidwell Park, horse arena area, from Manzanita Ave. to the Sycamore Diversion Channel between Lindo Channel and Upper Park Rd. After the Middle Park area is completed, the goats will be moved to the Lindo Channel between Manzanita Ave. to Highway 99 and then to areas of Lower Park.
PG&E provides an update on power outages relating to the Park Fire
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - PG&E provided an update on power outages affecting those affected by the Park Fire in Butte County. As the fire progressed on Wednesday, PG&E said they de-energized distribution power lines in stages in and near the burn area at the request of CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department. This was to protect firefighters and public safety.
