UGA Recruiting: Elite LB is Committing Soon and Georgia is Doing Everything Possible to Get Him
“Coach Smart, he was just continuing to tell me I’m a priority. He was telling me to take my visits and doesn’t want me to be in a rush, but he was saying that [Glenn] Schumann was telling him that I’m the guy that he wants,” Gass told Dawgs247. “He wants to make it happen. Whatever he’s gotta do to make it happen, he’s going to do it.”
South Carolina’s top-rated commit flips to Georgia
After a good deal of buzz surrounding a potential flip, the Georgia Bulldogs added another major commitment to their 2025 class. Shamari Earls, a four-star cornerback out of Chester, Virginia, flipped to the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon from conference rival South Carolina. Earls is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback who plays at Thomas Dale High School and had been committed to the Gamecocks since April. He is the eighth-ranked cornerback in the country and the second-ranked player in Virginia. Earls has starred in both football and track and field. He has played as a two-way player, recording 25 tackles and three interceptions a season ago on the defensive side to go along with 715 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver while also working as a return specialist. Respect my decision! pic.twitter.com/vZZat1jLzK — Shamari Earls (@shamari_earls) July 7, 2024 With the addition of Earls, the Bulldogs have 18 players committed in the class of 2025 and have the third-ranked class in the country, trailing only Ohio State and Alabama. South Carolina fell to 38th after losing its highest-rated commit.
4-star Alabama RB commit still considering Georgia
Four-star running back recruit Anthony Rogers is planning to visit the Georgia Bulldogs again. Rogers, who has been committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide since June 2023, visited Georgia this spring. “I am still committed to Alabama,” said Rogers in a recent interview with Rivals. “I am just looking at other schools to make sure I am the right fit for my future.” Rogers plays high school football for Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama. He previously played for IMG Academy and Pike Road High School (Alabama). Rogers is the fourth-best running back in the class of 2025, per 247Sports. The 5-foot-8, 190-pound running back is the No. 118 recruit in the country and the No. 11 player in Alabama. Rogers runs track and plays basketball. The Carver star running back has elite speed that should serve him well at the next level. Rogers is a shifty runner who is very elusive. Georgia football has 17 commitments in the class of 2025, including one from three-star Cedar Grove running back Bo Walker. Georgia typically signs two running backs per cycle, so the Bulldogs are likely looking to add another one to their haul in the 2025 cycle.

David Sanders Jr. announced late Sunday night via X that the Bulldogs were one of the top four schools remaining in his recruitment, alongside Ohio State, Tennessee, and Nebraska. Sanders also announced that he will make his commitment on August 17th. Sanders is listed at 6-foot-6, 190 pounds, and is the second highest rated overall recruit in the nation according to 247Sports. He currently plays at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was named Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023. His...

Four-star Georgia commit projected to flip to Tennessee
After a very strong month of June on the recruiting trail, the Georgia Bulldogs may be on the verge of losing a longtime commit in the class of 2025. On3’s Chad Simmons logged a projection for four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte to flip to the Tennessee Volunteers after being committed to the Bulldogs since December 2022. Perlotte is listed at 6 feet, 3 inches and 210 pounds. He plays at Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. He recorded 55 tackles and 8 tackles-for-loss a season ago and is rated the 15th-best linebacker in the nation and 13th-best player in the Georgia. Perlotte made an official visit to Tennessee on June 14, one of four visits he took that month. Perlotte also visited Alabama, Miami and Georgia (June 21). Should he join the Volunteers, he would be their highest-ranked defensive recruit in the 2025 class. He is one of two linebackers committed to the Dawgs at this moment; the other is five-star Zayden Walker. This is not the first time Perlotte has been projected to flip his commitment. It was predicted last year that Florida State would land him before he removed the Seminoles from his recruiting process.

Calculating Georgia football wins needed for College Football at-large bid
After back-to-back national titles, Georgia came one win short of another bid to the College Football Playoff. Since Kirby Smart took over the Bulldogs have made the four-team CFP three times and have needed at least 12 wins each time. Yet, even last season 12 wasn’t enough, so with an...
Georgia football scholarship breakdown after Jahzare Jackson addition
Here is how the 2024 scholarship roster looks for the Dawgs in terms of athletes on scholarship. With the unique addition of Jahzare Jackson, the Georgia Bulldogs signed 29 players in the 2024 class and added nine players via the transfer portal. By our best calculations, 28 signatures and nine transfer portal additions would put Georgia at 88 scholarship players on the 2024 roster, but that number is likely to be 85 on scholarship in year one right now, with two delayed until 2025 and at least one roster addition coming in as a first-year walk-on. Unlike in 2021, seniors who decide to take advantage of the COVID-19 waiver for a super senior season will count toward the 85 scholarship limit. That number does not need to be met until fall camp, so there is plenty of time for additional attrition.
