Copiague Appoints New Board of Education Officers
Copiague School District’s Board of Education held its annual reorganizational meeting on July 10. Reelected Board of Education trustees Kenneth Urban and Michael Higgins along with newly elected trustee Beatrice Guido were sworn into office by District Clerk Deborah VanFlorcke. Anthony S. Pepe was elected and sworn in as president of the Board of Education. Brian J. Sales and Mr. Urban were sworn in as first vice president and second vice president, respectively. Copiague School District’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kathleen Bannon was also sworn in by Ms. VanFlorcke.

The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is proud to announce that it has been ranked among the top medical schools nationwide in research and diversity according to the U.S. News & World Report 2024 rankings. This is the ninth consecutive year the medical school has been recognized for research and the fourth year it has been ranked as one of the most diverse medical schools in the country.
Stony Brook University & the Simons Foundation named recipient of 2024 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award
Stony Brook University and the Simons Foundation were recently named recipients of the Insight Into Diversity magazine 2024 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award. Insight Into Diversity is the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in STEM Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Stony Brook University and the Simons Foundation will be featured, along with 82 other recipients, in the September 2024 issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine.

Floral Park-Bellerose Schools Host Summer Enrichment Program
From July 8 through August 2, the Floral Park-Bellerose Union Free School District is hosting a Summer Enrichment Program for its students. There are five programs that students may choose from, each one with various classes. One STEAM-focused program offers classes in edible sciences, coding, robotics, rocketry.
