Cold Spring parking regulations take effect
COLD SPRING – It’s now official. Fees for metered parking on Main Street in Cold Spring from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday have been decreased from $4 per hour to $2 per hour while the maximum time allowed for metered parking has been increased from three to four hours with the minimum reduced from 60 to 30 minutes.
Fireworks set in City of Newburgh
CITY OF NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh will hold its annual Independence Day fireworks display on July 4. The fireworks display will be launched at 1 Washington Street (a.k.a. People’s Waterfront Park), at around 9 p.m. Setup time will begin at 6 p.m. To help protect public safety, 1 Washington Street will be closed to the public from the time of setup until the event has concluded.

O’Brien concedes Conservative line to Ingrassia in NY-100 Assembly race
MIDDLETOWN – Camille O’Brien has conceded the Conservative line to Lou Ingrassia Jr. after losing to him in the 100th Assembly District Republican primary on Tuesday. Ingrassia defeated O’Brien 1,249 to 858 in the primary. The NY-100 consists of Middletown and Wallkill in Orange County and most of Sullivan County.
July 4th celebrations bring history alive
There are plenty of other events on July 4th that will get your patriotism flowing. Just 12 minutes south of Peekskill in Croton, at the historic Van Cortlandt Manor, which dates back to 1732, 44 years before the American Revolution, there will be a living history presentation that brings people back in time to what it was like to live as a domestic family during colonial times and the Revolutionary Period.
New Carmel school superintendent hits the ground running
CARMEL – Erin Meehan-Fairben walked into her new office for the first time Monday as Carmel’s new superintendent of schools. Walking in was emotional for the career educator since her father, the late Richard Meehan, sat in the same chief school administrator’s chair at the district’s administrative office in Patterson 51 years ago when he served as Carmel superintendent.

Peekskill Senior Picnic Brings Food, Music, and Community Together
The Nutrition/Senior Services Department of Peekskill, New York hosted its yearly Senior Picnic on June 28th at the Riverfront. Seniors participated in the event, enjoying food and music. Yorktown Celebrates Pride Month with a March and Festival
YORKTOWN, N.Y. — Hundreds turned out for the fourth annual pride celebration in Yorktown Heights on Saturday, June 29, which featured a march through downtown, speeches, and performances. There were also various vendors, crafts for kids, information tables, and LGBTQ+ and ally speakers. Organized by Yorktown for Justice, the event celebrates the LGBTQ community and drew people from Westchester and Putnam counties, along with local officials Councilman Sergio Esposito, Supervisor Ed Lachterman, Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg, Senator Pete Harckham, and Westchester County Legislator Vedat Gashi. Army Track and Field Standouts Shine at 2023-24 Olympic Trials: Records broken by Brian Matthews and Brooke Stratman
The 2023-24 Army West Point track and field season concluded at the Olympic Trials with Brian Matthews placing 16th overall after running a 50.83 in the 400 hurdles semifinals.
