CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were arrested and police are seeking charges on a third after a breaking and entering in Branch County.

Michigan State Police troopers were called to Stateline Road near N 575E in California Township Tuesday for a report that someone had broken in and stolen property around 9 p.m. Monday. Troopers got tips and leads, which helped them identify three suspects.

The 49-year-old man and a woman in her 40s, both from Coldwater, were found living in a camper near the area of Willowbrook Road and White Drive in Coldwater Township, police said. They were both arrested and booked into the Branch County Jail on “multiple warrants” and breaking and entering and possession of stolen property charges.

The other man, 47 from Coldwater, had absconded from parole, MSP said. None of the suspects were identified by police.

“A considerable amount of the stolen property has been recovered,” MSP wrote in a release.

It’s not clear what type of property was stolen.

MSP suspects drug use was a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
